Ernie Hite's De Forest 15 Panel Unit Receiving Set, circa 1919-1921

by Robert Lozier, KD4HSH

Ernie's passion was in collecting vintage wireless gear from 1915 to about 1928. The majority of his items are in museum quality condition. Now that Ernie Hite, WB4KFL, is a Silent Key, it is time for his gear to pass on to others. That will happen in the form of a fabulous auction on Thursday, March 25th, 2010 at the great regional conference of the Carolinas Chapter of the AWA in Charlotte, NC. You can find out all about it by going to: www.cc-awa.org/ and follow the links to the conference pages.

The photos below represent only a part of his fabulous collection. Most of what you see will be in the auction. The family has only retained a few sets for sentimental reasons.

K2TQN's Speaking Tour for this Year

I will be making a few presentations about the 1923 Bowdoin expedition, titled the “Wireless North Pole and the Adventures of Don Mix” with lots of the original photos. I regret not being able to go everywhere I have been invited.

If you are in the area, I hope you will attend.

Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the CC-AWA meet in Charlotte, NC.
